Girls You Be Ardent
Exploring the life of ancient Greek poet Sappho through the last remaining fragments of her poetry translated by various sources.
Her work is regarded as some of the most inspiring and influential words of her time, regarded as the "Tenth Muse."
Iwan’s project titled Girls You Be Ardent, a quote from one of Sappho's poems, is a visual exploration of female romance and friendship. Her poetry was a way to express her sexuality in a society that suppressed it.
The first part of the project was captured on the Greek island of Lefkada where she lived. Iwan captured the second half in Cornwall with models to tell the story.
Using post production and 3D assets to bring studio and locations together he has interpreted her words in his own body of work.
